AUGUST EVENTS

MEETING:  Can you identify a eucalypt? Have you ever wondered how botanists identify one eucalypt from another?
Join us this
Thursday 20 August 2026 at 7pm at Knuckey Lagoon Recreation Reserve (see map) and learn one of the most valuable skills in plant identification - how to key out eucalypts using the EUCLID online identification key.

This hands-on presentation and workshop will introduce you to the features botanists use to identify eucalypts, and you'll learn how to use the interactive EUCLID key to work through the identification process. A wide selection of eucalypt specimens will be available throughout the evening, giving everyone the opportunity to gain practical experience and confidence in recognising the characteristics that distinguish one species from another.

If you would like to follow along on your own computer, you are welcome to bring a laptop but will need to download the EUCLID identification key before you come as there is no WI-FI at the venue.

Top End Native Eco Fair – Saturday 22 August

The Top End Native Eco Fair & Plant Sale is coming up this Saturday at Jingili Water Gardens, 91 Freshwater Road, Jingili, from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm.

TENPS will have a stall there, so we would love to see lots of our members come along and support the event. There will be a huge range of Top End native plants, talks, workshops, interactive displays, children's activities and plenty of opportunities to learn more about our local environment.

TENPS members will receive a discounted price on our plant sales, so it is a great opportunity to add a few new natives to your garden while supporting the Society.
